The views from this property are breath-taking, to say the least, but be sure to plan for an earlier ceremony. The key to a beautiful ceremony is timing, because as early as mid-afternoon through sunset the sun can be low enough in the sky that it casts a shadow of the building ( Montage Ballroom) across the terrace, creating sharp contrasts in light from the dark ceremony location on the terrace in the shadow, and the brightly lit glowing red rocks in the background.  This combination forces a photographer to use artificial light, instead of natural light, to be able to expose properly for the red rock backgrounds that we all love, yet still light the ceremony so it is visible in the pictures.  Artificial lighting ( i.e., equipment) can be obtrusive and disruptive to the scene; both for the wedding party and guests, as well as in the pictures.
