Jane and Peter ~ Intimate Gathering

Jane and Peter were married in the heart of the red rocks at Merry Go Round on Schnebly Hill. It was a beautiful June day here in Sedona, and Jane and Peter were just so excited to be getting married! You can really see how much they love each other in these images.

Jane's day started at the luxurious Sedona bed and breakfast Adobe Grand Villas. JB at Sedona Luxury Wedding recommended this fabulous bed and breakfast and provided day of coordination.

Pink Jeeps picked up Peter, the guests, and then Jane, so their first meeting would be as Jane walked down a red rock aisle. The road to the top of Schnebly Hill is very rough and bumpy, so it was definitely an adventure for their guests, who are probably more accustomed to the potholes in New York City... :)

Their intimate and casual reception was held at the Redstone Cabin ... the food and service was impeccable! Jane and Peter had about 20 guests, so the Redstone Cabin was just perfect for their cocktail hour in a private patio, and then dinner in their intimate dinning room.

Congratulations to Jane and Peter! You had a beautiful wedding in Sedona and we are so very happy for you both! Thank you for letting us document your day!

I love these shots Andrew got of Jane interacting with her mom... intimate moments like these are timeless and are the types of storytelling images we love to capture.



This is an image I shot of Jane talking with her dad by phone... he was not able to make it because of health reasons and I loved that they were together as a family even though physically apart.





Look at this bathroom! The bathroom in the villas at the Adobe Grand were as big as our bedroom. The rooms are all custom created and decorated and just fabulous. As photographers we love the rooms because of the natural light... so pretty!

Jennifer and Josh ~ The Bride's Cafe

We were honored to return to our studio yesterday afternoon to find an email from Janie Medley, the visionary behind the wedding inspiration blog The Bride's Cafe, letting us know that Jennifer and Josh's wedding would be featured in two parts. Of course we were excited! :)

Janie is also a very well respected floral artist based in Virginia, creating work featured in national wedding publications. Check out her work in the current issue of Ines del Mar magazine.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Bride's Cafe, it is a great resource for finding inspirational ideas and creative directions for your own wedding by viewing real weddings from destinations all around the world. And let's say your wedding has already taken place... It's still a fun blog to sit and stare at because Janie always features the most interesting work out there! Check it out :)

Karen and Steve ~ Exquisite Love

Karen and Steve were married on June 7, 2008, at a private residence in Sedona, after their preparation at the luxurious Enchantment Resort and Spa, tucked away in Boynton Canyon in Sedona.

From start to finish, Karen and Steve were such a pleasure to work with. Their refreshingly friendly, open, and smiling demeanor was contagious and fun! Both were calm, ready, and excited to tie the knot :)

Karen wore the most amazing Christian Dior gown, highlighted by a special pair of Rene Caovilla shoes for the ceremony, and a second pair of Rene Caovilla's to go with a new evening gown for dancing during the reception.

After their preparation at Enchantment, the event got underway at Karen's aunt and uncle's majestic residence at the foot of some of Sedona's most amazing red rock mountains.

The ceremony took place at the front gate of the courtyard and gardens of the residence. The terrace just down the steps from the gate is graced with an amazing fountain, which was decorated with the artistic floral and decor of Events by Showstoppers; an artistic arrangment of desert succulents, cactus skeletons, and vibrant orchids. Rose petals were scattered like a blanket over the water in the fountain.

After the ceremony the event moved out to the patios and terrace for cocktail hour, dinner, and then toasts and dancing. Fantastic food was put on by The Heartline Cafe, and night was danced away to the live music of Sedona's local jazz extraordinaire Artists in Rhythm. A break in the dancing allowed for heartfelt toasts by loved ones, and a cake cut. The tasty cake was created by Sedona Cakes. Karen Lynn provided seamless coordination.

Last but not least, fabulous wedding cinematographer Greg Cluff joined us all from Scottsdale... we always love working with Greg and can't wait to see his work from this wedding!

One of our favorite images from the day... you just can't pose or prompt this kind of look of pure joy and love from a bride.











Karen and Steve had a few unconventional touches to their wedding. Instead of being walked down an aisle, Steve met Karen part way and then walked with her towards the ceremony.

Karen Lynn had a great idea for all the guests to be served a glass of champagne near the end of the ceremony so that the guests could gather and toast/celebrate the newly weds!





We LOVE this wedding bouquet by Events by Showstoppers. Jim and Ken and their team really did a fabulous job with the lighting and event decor... it was simply stunning!

Karen decided it would be great to gather the guests dancing on the dance floor for Karen and Steve's entrance so that they would be surrounded by friends and family for their first dance.

Basia and Stacy ~ Roman Holiday

Basia and Stacy were married at Tlaquepaque in Sedona on June 2, 2008. It was a small and intimate wedding, with just close friends and family, and came off beautifully; not a detail left undone!

Basia and Stacy's style reminded us so much of the 1953 Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck classic Roman Holiday. Not only were Basia and Stacy's fashion sense, hair styles, and smiles, of that era, but their general demeanor and approach to everything, especially each other, was so classy and romantic! They even toasted each other at the reception with fabulous classical Waterford crystal champagne flutes, reminiscent of 1950's Italy. We couldn't resist the parallel :)

They were so fun to work with, too! They LOVE photography, and they are madly in love with each other, which always makes our job so easy!

Basia is an incredibly creative and talented person... she knew what she could handle and left the rest to professionals. She designed and put together all her beautiful floral decor, and made her gorgeous custom invitations.

And because we got together the day after their wedding for a more extensive shoot, Basia and Stacy were able to spend more time with their guests on the wedding day. Basia also got to try two different hairstyles and used it as a great excuse to have two different pairs of shoes :)

The preparation for the girls took place at one of our favorite bed and breakfasts in Sedona, El Portal. It's absolutely beautiful and the Governor's Suite has great lighting for make up and preparation images. It's just a 2 minute walk to Tlaquepaque. Two of our favorite locations to shoot weddings in Sedona!

Patricia Vega did an amazing job on the girls hair and makeup. Bobby at Sedona Sounds made sure everyone was having fun on the dance floor. Cucina Rustica had some amazing food prepared for the night. And last but not least, Sedona wedding planner Karen Lynn did a great job making sure the day went smoothly.

Congratulations Basia and Stacy!! It was a beautiful day and we're so happy for you both! Thank you for letting us be a part of your family for two days!

I love that the girls are practicing dancing in the back ground as Basia gets her dress on... and again this is at the gorgeous bed and breakfast El Portal.



Here is Basia looking like she should be in a fashion spread. I love the classic and elegant look she put together for herself and her whole wedding.

My favorite shot of the day... I just love the mood to this image...





Some more details ... can you believe how beautiful her bouquet is... she put it together the day before the wedding! Something I would definitely not suggest unless you used to be a florist... which she was.



This is another favorite of ours because it's a purely candid shot of the grandmother and her grandchildren. These kinds of images just get more meaningful as the years pass.





We just thought it was so cute that they were crying at the same time...







Basia's aunt is a professional costume designer so she helped Basia find the perfect dress and also made the most fabulous bustle I've ever seen. She put in dozens of pins to do this gorgeous bustle.







I think this shot is so romantic...



The reception took place in the Patio De Las Companas at Tlaquepaque... it's truly a beautiful venue...







And lastly, a couple of images from their day after session, which reminded us of the cute scene where Audrey is riding on the back of Gregory Peck's wimpy ( but cool!) little Vespa scooter, clutching onto him for dear life... :)

Tara and Micah ~ Train to Marrakesh

Tara and Micah were married at L'Auberge de Sedona resort in Sedona on May 18th, 2008.

Family and friends came from literally all over the world to attend this beautiful wedding. Both Tara and Micah are anthropologists, and so guests and colleagues of theirs from the Peace Corps and University of Arizona were in attendance.

Because Tara has spent so much time in Morocco, the cocktail hour and reception followed an amazing Moroccan theme. Just stepping into the reception area was like entering a new world, with amazing and vibrant colors!

The fabulous Liz Margin worked her magic on the makeup. Andrea Blaut made the **amazing** Moroccan style cake. Jim, Ken, and their team at Events by Showstoppers made the chuppah for the ceremony, and orchestrated the fabulous Moroccan themed floral and decor for the cocktail hour and reception.

Congratulations to the newly weds, Tara and Micah! We're so very very happy for you! Thanks for transporting us to your Marrakesh! It was an honor to be a part of your wedding day!

The bottom of Tara's bouquet is actually a beautiful bracelet from Morocco. Jim and Ken at Showstoppers are always great at adding beautiful and personal details to the floral work for their clients.

Tara and Micah did a fabulous job making their wedding actually theirs... it's always so personal and lovely when talented family or friends sing at weddings or at receptions.

This is really a showstopper of a cake! Guests were taking pictures of it all night! And the tent and decor with the cake were all so nicely tied together. The details of the cake were made with wooden blocks that are used for patterning textiles and cloth, carefully pressed into the cake, and then hand painted by Andrea at Sedona Cake Couture.



I love that Tara and Micah made these table markers with names of cities in Morocco. Another fabulous personal touch from these worldwide travelers.

Tara's Bridal ~ Red Rock Fashion Shoot

Gorgeous bride, beautiful gown, glowing red rocks... we've got it made. Most of the time for our local weddings there is not time during the wedding day to go off to a beautiful red rock location... so we LOVE shooting before or after the wedding in hard to reach locations.

Tara was fabulous and did a great job looking beautiful in her Angel Sanchez gown... the light was beautiful and we had a great time.

The fabulous Liz Margin did a beautiful job on her makeup and provided a fabulous hairstylist for Tara's trial run. It's a great idea to have a trial run before the wedding to make sure you are on the same page as your makeup artist and hairstylist. And what better day to do it than on a pre-wedding shoot with your photographer!

Laura + Grant ~ Cool May Rains

Laura and Grant were married on May 24th, 2008, at L'Auberge de Sedona Resort. Amazingly enough, we had just had a glimpse of the Sedona summer heat the week before, but on this day it was cool and rainy; perfect respite from otherwise blistering Arizona heat :)

Hailing from Iowa, this couple actually attended high school together but did not really know each other. It was not until Grant went to a gathering of friends while visiting Iowa where he and Laura finally met through a common friend. From that moment on they knew it was meant to be!

Laura and Grant are such a fun couple and have an amazing chemistry. They have a certain smile, and 'look,' for each other that we felt really came across through the photography. All one of them has to do is look at the other and they are either melting away into each other's arms, or they are laughing hysterically at their own antics. We really enjoyed being with them!

Again, we have to sing praise because we are always blessed to have such fun clients; both our couples and their families! We felt like part of the gang almost immediately, and we were treated like family every step of the way. :) And really Laura was such a trooper... there were soooo many things that were difficult that day... mostly the really really really cold temperature... who would have known that it would be so cold on Memorial Day weekend in Arizona! But Laura and Grant were just so happy to be getting married and didn't sweat the small stuff.

A sincere 'Thank You!' to Laura and Grant for inviting us to document their wedding day! We wish you the best in your marriage, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Patricia Vega worked her magic with hair and makeup for Laura and the bridal party. Events By Showstoppers orchestrated the floral work. Cake artist Andrea Blaut of Sedona Cake Couture made the tasty cake.
