sam and steven's full wedding day story slideshow.
sam is an actress with a gorgeous name fit for a star... samantha sky shelton, and now she's a davis!! steven is a writer, and they both live in hollywood. sam and steven are the most down to earth, crazy funny, and friendly people you could ever meet! being in the hollywood scene, sam became friends with celebrity hairstylist jenny cho... we thought it was so sweet to have this friend be apart of the preparation and early day fun, while still having such an important role....
the handsome groom... and his adorable niece...
we love it when family heirlooms can be incorporated into weddings... below are sam's grandmother's garters, and then the earrings her sister wore on her wedding day.
everyone stayed at the briar patch inn, which has adorable cabins... sam and the girls got ready in a gorgeous cabin called casa de piedra ... the walls are constructed from large, round, river rocks, which gives a rustic feel... there was plenty of window light for the make up artist and lovely light for photography as well!
the bridal party, which consisted of sam's three sisters, and her two sweet nieces.
this laid back, eclectic wedding, was detailed with flowers in mason jars, hand made ring bearer pillow (accompanied by a adult ring bearer), signs drawn with love leading guests to the wedding, long family-style tables with simple white linen and butcher paper, and an old red barn door they had found on site that we used as a backdrop for a photobooth.
Duende is a Spanish ( of Spain) word that has many translations, but most affectionately means a certain kind of magic. James A. Michener goes into a nearly 10 page soliloquy in his book, Iberia, explaining the mystique behind the uniquely Spanish word, where he cites myriad uses and contexts for it. It is never a bad word.
Jennifer and Alfonso exemplify this word nicely. They have so much fun together and look at each other in a special way that indicates to everyone around them just how in love they are.
Jennifer's parents helping her with the veil... the mantilla veil is so classic and beautiful.
Tlaquepaque, a place like no other in Arizona... it's romantic, rustic and takes you to a different world.
Jennifer's fabulous bouquet by Bliss Extraordinary Floral ... the handle was created custom for Jennifer and was quite remarkable. The delicate color palette delivered through the floral, stationary, and decor was so elegant.
Jennifer looking spectacular...
The intimate chapel at Tlaquepaque ... the light danced through a corner window as the music from the gold harp floated through the air.
Just married!!
Beauty is definitely in the details... coordination was flawlessly performed by Laura Lane of Sacred Unions ... she went as far as having the table linens pressed (we often see fold lines at weddings on the rental linens) and even had the parking posts concealed in matching fabric.
Isn't this back drop gorgeous? The pretty cake by Donna at Sedona Sweet Arts matched the color theme perfectly.
Some of our favorite images from short a portrait session we did before the reception began...
Tlaquepaque gets magical after the sun sets.. receptions on the Calle Independencia are among our favorite.
Pure joy...
Jennifer and Alfonso... thank you so very much for letting us be a part of your gorgeous wedding day!! We greatly enjoyed you and your families. You are very blessed.

Kim and Rick had a small intimate wedding ceremony and lunch reception at Andrea of Sedona Cake Couture's gorgeous home. Kim is a successful local real estate professional and decided to locally have her wedding in Sedona. As you will see from their images... a small wedding does not mean compromising beautiful images or a day full of meaningful moments.
To see their wedding story, click on the image below or click here to see their wedding in a new window.
Kim and Rick, thank you so much for having me be part of your sweet wedding.
~ Katrina ~
A few of my favorite images from the 3 hour shoot...
The handsome couple...
Kim's dress was custom made... the seamstress took Kim's favorite aspects of three dresses and created a one of a kind original. The back is my favorite part.
Kim bought these champagne glasses almost 10 years ago in 2000... she saw them and knew someday she would get married... so sweet... you can see the year 2000 on the bottom of the glass on the image to the right.
The gorgeous patio at Andrea's home and the elegant wedding cake and family style plates of delicious food catered by Cucina Rustica.
Rick and his beautiful daughters... we love to get candid moments during the family portrait session... of course there is another picture of everyone looking at the camera but these images below I'm sure say so much more about their character and relationship.
Off to Red Rock Crossing for some romantic portraits of the newlyweds ... for the very end or May it was unseasonably cool... it had been raining a few days before and that made for great images with reflections.

With just their immediate family, Veronica and Olivier traveled from Canada to have their wedding in Sedona.
We were really excited to shoot in a new location in Sedona, an overlook near Air Port Mesa. Veronica is friends with Andrea of Sedona Cake Couture who just happens to have the most beautiful home with the perfect patio for a small reception.
Be sure to play the slideshow to see their unique Native American wedding ceremony and the fun, emotional, sweet moments that made up their beautiful day in Sedona ... to see this slideshow in a new window click here.
Their gorgeous boys... we loved their outfits with the white Converse shoes!! How fun!
How cute are they... Canadians always have the best style... Veronica is wearing a fantastic Nicole Miller dress... and who says the groom always has to wear a black tux and that the bride has to wear a white dress? They look amazing together.
Love this shot by Andrew...
... Andrew was shooting as the main photographer so Katrina was getting this overall shot while Andrew shot some portraits...
The kids at this wedding were adorable!!
Another shot Katrina shot while Andrew was covering the ceremony...
The kids joining in for some music and dancing after the ceremony... this is a great shot by Andrew..
Did we already mention how amazing Andrea's house is... it's like paradise...
Catering was provided by Fork in the Road... if happen to be in Sedona you *must* eat there... their food is spectacular!
The kids enjoying some great music by Artists in Rhythm our favorite local live band for weddings... they are always fantastic! What a classy way to have a sweet small wedding filled with big moments.
This is just a great moment Andrew got of Veronica and Olivier!
Congratulations Veronica and Olivier! You two are such a beautiful couple and so very much in love! Thank you for having us be a part of your day!!

Junli and Paul married along Oak Creek at the beautiful Creekside Inn, under a canopy of amazing Sycamore and Cottonwood trees.
The Creekside Inn provided the perfect setting for the bride and groom preparation, a unique and beautiful ceremony site 'tier' right on the edge of Oak Creek, and a fabulous reception on the lawn.
Jim and Ken, and their talented team at Events by Showstoppers, arranged all of the amazing floral and decor. Of particular uniqueness was the rose petal 'water pond' at the base of a gigantic Sycamore tree overlooking the ceremony.
The Weddings in Sedona team was super helpful and offered expert coordination services for the wedding. The talented Bobby Russell, of Sedona Sounds, played guitar for the ceremony processional, and DJ'd the night away with his great selection of music. Sedona Sweet Arts crafted the cake.
There are a ton of great moments in this wedding ... to see this slideshow in a new window click here.
Junli's mother is a jewelry designer and she created their gorgeous and unusual wedding bands... the image to the right is a pearl bracelet Junli created for her bridesmaides as well as an antique family ring.
Love this shot of Junli's dad watching the girls help Junli get ready... you can see them in the mirror. I like the layering and story telling aspect of the image.
Junli is a gorgeous bride!
Paul's mom helping him get ready...
The place "cards" were stones instead of paper...
We love love LOVED the creek stones used to outline the path to the ceremony as well as the very cute heart shapes filled with rose petals... very sweet.
Right after the ceremony Junli and Paul sneak a kiss while they wait for family and friends to gather for their group shot... a note to photography buffs... the shot on the right is not a filter or photoshop action... it's good old fashion knowledge of your shutter speed and how the camera works. The slow shutter speed made the outer area of the image blur ... I focused and zoomed in on Junli and quickly pulled the zoom out as I clicked the shutter. Kind of fun...
During the family portraits we always try to encourage and capture a real moment... not just the family looking into the camera for a formal shot but also fun shots like this one below.
Paul, with some help from his brother and groomsmen, put together the most amazing rock monoliths with a combination of red rock ( flagstones) and smooth creek bed river rocks. Since Paul is a math teacher, he got tricky with his knowledge of physics and math and unleashed the coolest set of monoliths using only the rocks' weight and balance to keep them together! What a cool idea...
Another angle on the pool of rose petals... it was inspired by their engagement... Paul had proposed to Junli on Oak Creek... he had his friend light dozens of candles and the floated down around Junli and Paul as Paul proposed... so sweet!
A few images to get everyone excited... this was another beautiful wedding and we've got a ton more images going up on the blog this week from this gorgeous wedding!
More images coming soon!
