Joy and Josh {sweet love}

Joy is an editor with In Style Weddings magazine ... you can only imagine how thrilled we were that she asked *us* to document her wedding!! The best part is that Joy and Josh are some of the sweetest people you'll meet. We really enjoyed them both!

A special hats-off to Karen Lynn of Sedona Wedding Planner, for orchestrating such a beautiful day. Her attention to detail, and ' the little things,' (from making sure the drinks and appetizers were served on her antique silver trays) to the big things (the complicated timeline) is very admirable.

Playing with depth at Tlaquepaque. There are so many beautiful backdrops and opportunities to make great images there... it's a photographers playground!

What would a wedding in Sedona be without pictures out in the red rocks? This spot is near Tlaquepaque... can you tell they like each other?



After sunset the sky turns different shades of blue... you can see how it intensifies as it gets darker into the evening. The shot on the left is the last light of the day... and the one on the right is about a half hour after dark.



Andrea's cupcake cake was so much fun!



The first dance, sleeping kids, great food from Cucina Rustica, and dancing fun... all halmarks of a great reception! This is one of our favorite reception venues to shoot! It's gorgeous and boy did this crowd love to dance!

Kristin+Gino {elopement}

Kristin and Gino came in from Ontario, Canada, to tie the knot in style at the breathtaking Tlaquepaque Village right on Oak Creek in Sedona. The beautiful little chapel is perfect for a Sedona wedding elopement!

Karen Lynn, of Sedona Wedding Planner arranged all the details for Kristin and Gino, and performed the short and sweet ceremony. Events by Showstoppers put together the most colorful and amazing bouquet and boutaineere for Kristin and Gino.

Kristin and Gino, it was very nice to get to know you! We wish you all the best in years to come :) Congratulations on your beautiful wedding in Sedona.

Remi and John ~ Across Two Oceans

Remi and John made Sedona the destination to celebrate their nuptials, bringing family and friends from Japan, Arizona, Great Britain, and from everywhere in between.

Preparation for Remi and the bridal party started at the Light House, an amazing private residence hidden away off the beaten path, surrounded by red rocks. The ceremony took place at the Sedona Heritage Museum, which features a rustic setting with a big red rock formation as the back drop. The cocktail hour and reception both took place at Tlaquepaque, a cute replica of a seaside Mexican village.

Karen Lynn, of Sedona Wedding Planner, provided full service planning and coordination for this amazing wedding.

We absolutely loved the Japanese touches that were added to the wedding... Remi's mother made the basket below and decorated it with Mizuhiki in the shape of a Japanese crane. Mizuhiki is made from rice paper and is given at special occasions such as weddings. The crane symbolizes faithfulness. It is said that a pair of cranes remain faithful all of their lives to one another, even after one passes on.



The chalk board at the Light House rental home in Sedona always makes for fun pictures. The kids had fun decorating this one.





How cute is John's expression below? LOVE it :)



Showstoppers Floral did an AMAZING job creating this huge Torii made from bamboo, rope and wood nails. We love how passionate Jim and Ken are about their work. The dimensions of the Torii looked exact. The Japanese view the Torii as a gateway to a sacred space. What a beautiful touch and what a wonderful way to incorporate Japanese tradition to Remi and John's ceremony!

A few quick portraits before the sun sets over the red rocks...





The details on this wedding were so unique. Folded paper cranes, candles, and flowers, dangled from the centerpieces made from manzanita branches. Each table number was marked by Japanese kanji characters in addition to the English numbers.

The back side of Remi and John's chairs were decorated with Shimenawa, which are are made of braided straw rope. Shimenawa is traditionally used as a marker for a sacred space.

Remi and her mother put so much thought and energy into these impressive details.



The beautiful wedding cake below is by Andrea Blaut at Sedona Cake Couture... the orchids and branches on the cake are made from sugar but look so realistic.



And of course, the Calle de Independencia at Tlaquepaque is just one of the most amazing locations to have a reception. It's so romantic there. Below are a few image from Remi and John's first dance.

Paula and Hans ~ Love That Boy, Love The Girl

Paula and Hans were married at Tlaquepaque Chapel on a rainy summer day in Sedona, Arizona.

We got together with them a few days before the wedding to shoot their "day after session" before their wedding... it was great because Paula was able to try out her hair and makeup artist before the wedding and we were able to go to a location we would not have had time for on the wedding day. Having already shot their pictures before the wedding, it freed them up to really enjoy the day with their guests and family.

With Monsoon season in full swing, Paula and Hans tied the knot between heavy drops of rain under a sky full of marvelous thunderhead clouds. Paula got ready at El Portal, an amazing luxury inn a short distance off of Oak Creek.

After a short and very sweet ceremony at Tlaquepaque Chapel, the wedding party went back to El Portal for cocktail hour. For dinner, Paula and Hans treated their guests to a Texas-style barbecue by the amazing chef at El Portal.

Paula and Hans were so happy and full of smiles, tears of joy, and hugs and love for their family and friends. It was truly a pleasure to be there to document this fun group!

The artistic floral and decor were put on by the amazing team at Events by Showstoppers. The delicious cake was made by cake artist Andrea Carusetta-Blaut at Sedona Cake Couture.

Basia and Stacy ~ Roman Holiday

Basia and Stacy were married at Tlaquepaque in Sedona on June 2, 2008. It was a small and intimate wedding, with just close friends and family, and came off beautifully; not a detail left undone!

Basia and Stacy's style reminded us so much of the 1953 Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck classic Roman Holiday. Not only were Basia and Stacy's fashion sense, hair styles, and smiles, of that era, but their general demeanor and approach to everything, especially each other, was so classy and romantic! They even toasted each other at the reception with fabulous classical Waterford crystal champagne flutes, reminiscent of 1950's Italy. We couldn't resist the parallel :)

They were so fun to work with, too! They LOVE photography, and they are madly in love with each other, which always makes our job so easy!

Basia is an incredibly creative and talented person... she knew what she could handle and left the rest to professionals. She designed and put together all her beautiful floral decor, and made her gorgeous custom invitations.

And because we got together the day after their wedding for a more extensive shoot, Basia and Stacy were able to spend more time with their guests on the wedding day. Basia also got to try two different hairstyles and used it as a great excuse to have two different pairs of shoes :)

The preparation for the girls took place at one of our favorite bed and breakfasts in Sedona, El Portal. It's absolutely beautiful and the Governor's Suite has great lighting for make up and preparation images. It's just a 2 minute walk to Tlaquepaque. Two of our favorite locations to shoot weddings in Sedona!

Patricia Vega did an amazing job on the girls hair and makeup. Bobby at Sedona Sounds made sure everyone was having fun on the dance floor. Cucina Rustica had some amazing food prepared for the night. And last but not least, Sedona wedding planner Karen Lynn did a great job making sure the day went smoothly.

Congratulations Basia and Stacy!! It was a beautiful day and we're so happy for you both! Thank you for letting us be a part of your family for two days!

I love that the girls are practicing dancing in the back ground as Basia gets her dress on... and again this is at the gorgeous bed and breakfast El Portal.



Here is Basia looking like she should be in a fashion spread. I love the classic and elegant look she put together for herself and her whole wedding.

My favorite shot of the day... I just love the mood to this image...





Some more details ... can you believe how beautiful her bouquet is... she put it together the day before the wedding! Something I would definitely not suggest unless you used to be a florist... which she was.



This is another favorite of ours because it's a purely candid shot of the grandmother and her grandchildren. These kinds of images just get more meaningful as the years pass.





We just thought it was so cute that they were crying at the same time...







Basia's aunt is a professional costume designer so she helped Basia find the perfect dress and also made the most fabulous bustle I've ever seen. She put in dozens of pins to do this gorgeous bustle.







I think this shot is so romantic...



The reception took place in the Patio De Las Companas at Tlaquepaque... it's truly a beautiful venue...







And lastly, a couple of images from their day after session, which reminded us of the cute scene where Audrey is riding on the back of Gregory Peck's wimpy ( but cool!) little Vespa scooter, clutching onto him for dear life... :)

Jackie and Eddie ~ Schnebly Hill Vista, Sedona, Arizona

Jackie and Eddie were married on May 11th, 2008, at the Schnebly Hill Vista. In true destination wedding form, Jackie, Eddie, and their families and guests came from all over the United States to attend this beautiful wedding.

The day began with Jackie's preparation at the Lighthouse (an amazing house rental in Sedona), and Eddie and his groomsmen's preparation at the retro Star Motel in uptown Sedona. Immediately after, the bride and groom and their many guests made the long and bumpy journey up to the Schnebly Hill Vista.

Once on top, the amazing views mesmerized all, and the touching wedding ceremony began. Both Jackie and Eddie had special smiles and tears of joy for each other the entire ceremony. The mood was perfectly set and nicely accented with the amazing classical guitar of Brian David, a local Sedona musician, who is also a good friend of the groom.

After a quick portrait session, we headed back down the mountain to Tlaquepaque for the dinner reception. For those of you that have seen Tlaquepaque's Calle de Independencia at night during a wedding, you know just how beautiful it is!

Live music was performed by Artists In Rhythm. We love when clients invest in a live band. Artists In Rhythm always keeps everyone on the dance floor. The coordination services by Karen Lynn of Sedona Wedding Planner were really well done. The logistics were really difficult for this wedding but everything went of smoothly. It's always good to have a coordinator to keep the stress off of the bride. The floral and decor (including the uplights) were by Jim and Ken of Events By Showstoppers. Their team, as usual, did an great job with the event design.

Ashley and Eric ~ L'Auberge de Sedona, Sedona, Arizona

Ashley and Eric were married on May 5th, 2008, on the Hillside at L'Auberge de Sedona.

Ashley and Eric exchanged their vows with the most beautiful red rock background! The Schnebly Hill road area, with the fabulous Snoopy Rock, is a must see.

We had so much fun shooting this wedding, because not only were Ashley and Eric madly in love with each other, but they are also madly in love with photography, which is such an ideal combination.

There was also a fantastic pinata bashing, which we had never seen at a wedding, but that made for some awesome pictures. That, coupled with the fact that there were a bunch of gorgeous kids attending and participating in the wedding, made the day a real blast!

Ashley and Eric, thank you so much for commissioning us to document your wedding day. We had a lot of fun, and we know you did too :)

Just in case anyone is wondering, the colorful floral decor is from Bliss Extraordinary, and the beautiful patio in the last image below is at the Heartline Cafe where the reception dinner was held.

Amy + Lewis ~ Tlaquepaque, Sedona, Arizona

Amy and Lewis were married at the Patio de las Campanas at Tlaquepaque in Sedona.

There were some really sweet homemade touches added to this wedding... Lewis' mom made the yamikas.







We love Amy's expression after seeing Lewis for the first time that day! So sweet!



Amy had the most warm and bright personality so of course these shoes perfectly fit her to a T.

April + Jake's Wedding ~ Sedona, Arizona

A few days ago we posted the teaser from April and Jake's wedding, as well as the slideshow. So here are some more of our favorites from wedding.

We first met April and Jake when we shot Jessica and Charles' wedding last year. April was a bridesmaid at their beautiful wedding and decided they had to have us photograph their wedding. It was very cute because Jake caught the garter at the wedding, and April wore that same garter on her wedding for her something blue.

This was truly a family affair... there were so many details that family and friends helped with. It all came together beautifully. Jake is an artist. He makes fine art metal work as well as blown glass. His work is beautiful and he made all the center piece holders for the beautiful flowers as well as the cake stand. Jake's brother sang their first dance song. Some of the decor in matching pink and orange at the reception was put together by April's Aunt. Everything has beautiful personal touches to it!

If you're looking for a place to find your perfect wedding dress, go to Mariée in Scottsdale. April went there, upon our recommendation, and found her beautiful gown by Junko Yoshioka. I thought it fit her personality perfectly, and April of course looked stunning in it.

That fabulous cake is by Andrea at Sedona Cake Couture. The ceremony was at St. John Vianney and reception at the beautiful Creekside Inn.

Again, thanks to April and Jake. ...charming and very much in love! We enjoyed working with you both, and were so touched by your beautiful wedding day :)

Lizzy and Levi ~ The Heritage Museum and Tlaquepaque Village, Sedona, Arizona

Lizzy and Levi were married on October 13, 2007. Both Lizzy and Levi came from New Mexico where they are students. In true destination wedding form, their families and friends came from all over the USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, Florida, and Massachusetts.

They had a spectacular red rock view ceremony at the The Heritage Museum in old uptown Sedona. The Heritage Museum is great for weddings because it has an old rustic Sedona feel and has unbeatable red rock views!

After a brief portrait session out in the Coconino National Forest at Schnebly Hill, we hurried to their amazing reception held at Tlaquepaque, where family and friends enjoyed sunset cocktails on the terrace, and then dined and danced the night away.

Hats off to Amy and her team at Bliss Extraordinary Floral for creating such an amazingly stunning evening with their decor!

Wedding coordination was provided by Karen Lynn. Amazing live jazz was performed by Artists In Rhythm. And of course, the Food Network Challenge's latest star Andrea Blaut, created a cake fit for royalty!

Again, we have to stress that we have the best clients in the world! They always make us feel like family, and we always come out of it feeling like we have 100 new friends! Thanks, Lizzy and Levi :) And, a big thanks to your families too!

Heidi and Brad ~ Tlaquepaque Village, Sedona, Arizona

Heidi and Brad were married on October 12th, 2007, and from the get-go, we felt like part of the family! We are so blessed in that way, that just about everyone we work with treats us like family.

Heidi and Brad's wedding was a small and intimate one in the chapel at Tlaquepaque. Tlaquepaque is an amazing place because it's almost as if you've stepped back in time to an early 1800's colonial Spanish setting. And literally, that's what Tlaquepaque is modeled after.

Before the ceremony we were able to get some fun shots of Heidi and Brad exploring the village, as well as for few moments after the ceremony in the dark too. They are a really sweet couple, and they seemed to have a blast with their family and closest friends present!

Kara and Will ~ Inn of Sedona, Sedona, Arizona

Kara and Will were married on October 6th, 2007 ... October is one of the most beautiful months in Arizona and the weather was fabulous. They are such an energetic couple very much in love with each other. We had fun documenting the day and seeing them have so much fun together and with their wonderful friends and family.

The pink themed floral decor was created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral. The ceremony was full of emotion and laughter; officiated by Suzanne Loo-McCoy from Sacred Unions.

Sherri and Anthony - Tlaquepaque Chapel, Sedona, Arizona

What a sweet and fun couple! We had an amazing time with them shooting their engagement session... in the snow!!! ... in January and here we are in October with what looked like what was going to be bad weather again but turned out to be an amazing day despite a little rain.

The flowers were from Amy at Bliss Extraordinary, the cake with sugar calla lillies matching the calla lillie bouquet is from Sedona Cake Couture, the ceremony was in the chapel at Tlaquepaque and the reception was held at HeartLine Cafe.

Stephanie and Jeff - Tlaquepaque, Sedona, Arizona

I can't remember a time when Stephanie and Jeff weren't smiling at each other! The whole day was filled with special smiles for each other; the types of smiles you can't ask anyone to fake...

We shoot at Tlaquepaque often but this was our first time shooting a wedding in front of the fountain in Patio Del Norte. For those of you not familiar with Tlaquepaque there are numerous places to have weddings and receptions there. With the beautiful architecture, fountains and courtyards it's a romantic place to be married.

Stephanie's grand walk down the "aisle" was fantastic. She came down from the terrace that over looked the guests down by the fountain. You can imagine the anticipation and excitement they both must have felt during this long walk!

The elegant cake was created by Sedona Cake Couture and the bright florals that matched Stephanies personality perfectly were provided by Bliss Extraordinary.

Stephanie and Jeff were so sweet and we're so happy and honored to be a part of their wedding!

Ian and Rachel - Tlaquepaque

Tlaquepaque is one our favorite locations to shoot in Sedona. Ian and Rachel had great taste to pick Tlaquepaque! The terrace on Patio Del Norte was a perfect spot for their ceremony. It's one of the only spots from Tlaqeupaque that you can see the red rocks. Showstoppers Floral made their beautiful Huppa and their amazing floral arrangements. And of course we had another fabulous cake from Andrea at Sedona Cake Couture.

We had a great time with Ian and Rachel during their "day after session" which really did happend the day after their wedding. We got a chance to take some beautiful shots around Tlaquepaque. The day of the wedding was so hurried that we did't have much of a chance to take photos around Tlaquepaque and definitely didn't have time to take shots on the red rocks. So I know Ian and Rachel were really happy they planned their day after session.

Anyway we shot some beautiful images the day of the ceremony and the day after. It really was not difficult as we had a absolutley two beautiful days and Ian and Rachel were sooooo in love! Here are a few of our favorite images...
