Sedona Wedding Proposal by Oak Creek and in the Red Rocks

This beautiful couple opted to have a romantic Sedona wedding proposal, coming all the way from Michigan for it! We have to give it to Kyle, he did a great job putting this together so that it would be a special experience, and very romantic, for his lovely fiancé Marionna!

Kyle first contacted Katrina, with our studio, about proposing to Marionna, but he was uncertain as to how exactly to put it together. Since he did not yet have plans for lodging made, Katrina referred him to L’Auberge de Sedona, in uptown Sedona along Oak Creek, where they ended up staying.

We have shot several proposals over the years, and especially in recent times, so we are pretty good with offering helpful suggestions and tips, as well as recommending exact locations best for time of day and lighting. Information only Sedona locals, with the know how, would know. We are always happy to help couples planning destination weddings and elopements, and as well portraits and proposals, as sometimes they need hair and makeup, floral, a wedding planner, and even venues and lodging.

Sedona Wedding Proposal Along Oak Creek

The actual proposal took place at L’Auberge de Sedona at a beautiful ceremony on property called Serenity Point. It’s important to note that you must be a guest of the resort in order to be taking pictures on their property. Sedona Mountain High Flowers provided the petals for the beautiful rose petal heart we made.

Sedona Wedding Proposal in the Red Rocks

After the initial proposal at L’Auberge de Sedona along Oak Creek, we went to another location for some quintessential red rock views and backdrop that make Sedona such a unique location for wedding proposals. This location is not to too far from Merry-Go-Round, Snoopy Rock, and Cow Pies, all of which require a lot of hiking or jeeps to get to.

We want to wish this couple the very best! They are adorable, cute, sweet, and are going to have many years of happiness together! Have a happy life together, and please stay in touch, Kyle and Marionna 🙂

Much Love,
Katrina + Andrew

Caitlin and Justin’s Sedona wedding took place on a beautiful summer day! The beautiful thing about Sedona during the summer is that there are amazing monsoons that can roll in and create beautiful light … it can also rain and when it does it is usually for a shorter period of time and cools down the summer temperatures.

Sky Ranch Lodge is a very popular wedding venue in Sedona and while the views are fabulous for the ceremony there is a location close by that we like to take our clients for romantic portraits with fabulous red rock views. The views are just different enough from those views at Sky Ranch that it adds more beautiful red rock backdrop variations to remember their wedding day by. For Caitlin and Justin’s wedding day we had just a few minutes to there, we can’t wait to explore the area even further!

Anita and Armand’s Chapel of the Holy Cross Sedona chapel wedding was truly magical. In the 15 years we’ve been shooting weddings in Sedona it’s the first Chapel of the Holy Cross wedding we’ve photographed.

The chapel is one of Sedona’s most visited attractions, and is situated at the foot of a span of red rocks called Mystic Hills. The chapel is famous not only for its architectural marvel, having been designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, but also because of the incredible setting surrounding it. We had the pleasure of photographing Anita and Armand’s wedding at the chapel, and it is one of only a handful of weddings that have been shot there in the last 30 years!

Anita and Armand are hilarious and have a joy for life that is contagious! The moment you get around them you are immersed in conversation, laughs, and genuine fun. Armand is a comedian, and must have had a prior life on the Vaudeville circuit. His arsenal of funny faces and gestures kept us in constant laughter.

Anita had her hair and makeup prep at a beautiful Cottage at L’Auberge de Sedona and was joined by her best friends ans well as Sedona makeup and hair artist Carrie Kacen. Armand later met up with her for their first meeting and bridal party portraits on Oak Creek. We were lucky to be able to take some really beautiful pictures at Serenity Point which is a beautiful mix of red rocks and the green trees that surround Oak Creek.

From there we departed to meet up with their family and guests for their Chapel of the Holy Cross wedding. Right after the ceremony, everyone met up at Agave of Sedona for dinner and dancing. They had their family and friends right there with them to celebrate this occasion.

We could not be happier for you, Anita and Armand! Thank you for having us there and for treating us just like family!

The Sedona Chapel Wedding Vendor Team

This wedding was expertly planned by Margaret Van Damme, aka, Van Damme Weddings. Not only did she make the gift boxes for the grandkids in the wedding, she managed a whole host of other items when planning this gorgeous wedding!

Stunning floral was provided by the team at Bliss Extraordinary Floral. Hair and makeup by the lovely Carrie Kacen Artistry. Cake artistry and brownie gift favors for the guests by Sedona Cake Couture.

Anita and Armand’s Sedona chapel wedding took place at Chapel of the Holy Cross, and the reception took place at Agave of Sedona… Claudine and George, the owners of Agave of Sedona, happened to be Anita and Armand’s neighbors and good friends.

This wedding photographer studio wants to wish you a Happy New Year, 2017! We hope it’s a fantastic year for you, where all your plans come together for the perfect Sedona, or wherever you are getting married, wedding!

We love how this gorgeous couple was married at the gorgeous L’Auberge de Sedona, located in the heart of Sedona along Oak Creek. It’s easy to get to, and offers several serene ceremony sites for year-around wedding bliss in the picturesque landscape that is Sedona!

The day started out cool and cloudy, and who could have guessed that it would start to snow ( instead of rain!!) incredibly large and fluffy snowflakes just before the couple’s first meeting?! It really was not even very cold. It was cold enough that the snow stayed for most of the rest of the day, but warm enough that the entire bridal party was there to see the magic of this first meeting!

After the ceremony, we went out to get some red rock pictures in the surrounding area. It was a perfect opportunity to see the newly fallen snow on the rocks. Very simply, there is just no place as breath-taking and scenic as Sedona after a snowfall!

Outdoor Wedding Photographer

As a side note, we want to draw attention to the true blessing it is to be able to do most things outdoors for Sedona weddings. Almost any time of the year you can have your first meeting, ceremony, cocktail hour, romantic portraits, and reception, entirely outdoors! July and August can prove to be a little warm for that, and conversely, December and January can be a little cold, but for the most part sunshine reigns most of the year here!

In the meantime, here’s a photo of super sweet Katelyn and Darrin – we are so lucky to have such amazing couples – on their Sedona winter wedding day.  We found some fun ornaments hanging in the lobby of the Sedona Hilton in the Village of Oak Creek and made a quick portrait of them before they headed of to their Sedona winter wedding at Sedona Golf Resort. If you are interested in what a  Sedona Golf Resort wedding looks like, be sure to go to our venues page and see our Sedona Golf Resort wedding gallery.

We hope you all are having a wonderful winter holiday and that you had the most amazing Christmas and Hanukkah!

Some Tips for a Perfect Sedona Winter Wedding:

Availability

You will find more vendors available during the winter months making it easier to have a weekend wedding.

Light

The sun rides lower in the sky and makes for beautiful light for much longer during the day compared to summer months where the sun rides high in the sky making harsher light. For photography that means more beautiful natural light for pictures.

Weather

While it is more likely for there to be weather in the winter months it is still Arizona and a more desert like climate. We get a lot of sun in Arizona! It’s usually sunny and much more beautiful in Arizona during the winter than in other states. You are much more likely to have a beautiful outdoor wedding in Arizona during the winter months than most of the United States. While much of the northern parts of the US are covered in snow, Arizona is often very sunny. If you are lucky enough for it to snow on your wedding day, it only lasts for a day or two and it’s completely magical!

Take it Easy

Here’s a small side note about having a Sedona winter wedding; Winter in Sedona is a slower time of year for weddings, and it can be absolutely beautiful and romantic!

Cover Up

One last tip for planning a winter wedding: Find a pretty winter bolero, shrug, cardigan, pashmina, or shawl to go with your dress! A faux fur coat can be really beautiful, and if it does end up being an especially cooler Sedona winter wedding day, there is all the more reason to snuggle!

If you have any questions feel free to contact us! We love to chat about weddings and are happy to connect you with amazing Sedona wedding vendors. As always, we are honored to be considered to be your Sedona wedding photographers, and look forward to connecting with you about your Sedona wedding!
